Frequently Asked Questions
How much will it cost to have a Through Floor Lift Removed?
We publish all our prices on our website to show we are honest and open and charge no hidden extras. What we quote, is what we charge.
Is there VAT to be added to the price you quote?
No. We are currently not VAT Registered. The price you have been quoted is the final price.
What areas do you cover?
We cover the whole of Mainland UK. Obviously prices will vary due to distance and the requirement of an overnight stay.
How do I know your work is safe?
Gavin, our engineer/builder is an approved Wessex Lifts builder with many years experience creating apertures and strengthening floors prior to installation of through floor lifts. Before Creating Home Lift Removals, Gavin was an engineer at Wessex Lifts responsible for both building and installing lifts. With over 30 years experience in the industry, he is one of the most experienced in the UK to carry out this type of work.
Do I need Building Control to oversee your building work after removing the lift?
No. When the lift was installed major structural changes were made such as strengthening the 1st floor. It was at this time Building Control will have been involved and issued a Completion Certificate. If done correctly, the area around the lift would have had the joist doubled at a minimum and will now be the strongest part of the floor in the house. Once the floor is exposed, we will simply install new joists inside the aperture. These joists will be fitted on joist hangers manufactured to BS EN 10327:2004. All the building work we carry out and all materials supplied conform to current Building Regulations.
Do you issue any documents upon completion of your work?
Yes. We issue our own completion certificate stating that all work and materials used meet current building regulations. We also take a series of photographs showing how the joists are fitted prior to covering with the floor and plasterboard. These photos are issued to the client along with the completion certificate when job is finished.
How can I see reviews of your past work?
.We dont put reviews on our website because they can easily be fabricated to make a company look good. We use Trustpilot as a platform to allow independent reviews by our past clients. This means they are all genuine and out of our control. You can see our past clients reviews by clicking HERE.
Do we have to pay upfront?
No. We do not charge upfront or take a deposit. No payment is due until we complete all the work we promised and leave your home clean and tidy. Full payment is by card or cash on the day the work is completed. If you wish to pay by bank transfer, we can supply an invoice in advance with our bank details. In this case cleared funds must reach our account 24 hours prior to the booked work commencing.
Can you reinstall the lift after removal?
Home Lift Removals does not reinstall lifts. We simply remove and dispose of the lift. Some people may want to sell the lift after we remove it. We normally advise clients that the rails/tracks for their lift are cut bespoke so new rails/tracks would be required. Depending on the lift model, there will be various new parts and a full refurbishment required to reinstall the lift to the safety requirements of BS5900:2012
I am still shopping around for the best price. How do I know if a company is qualified or experienced to carry out the work?
Like all trades, there are good and bad. Ask any prospective company for their training details. Ask if their building work is carried out to current building regulations and get this in writing. Look for reviews from previous customers. This is normally the best way to see how companies perform. Not through reviews on websites as these can easily be faked, but through trusted review platforms such as Trustpilot where clients are free to create their own reviews based on their own personal experience.
